Our magazine is in stores. With a cover that, in my opinion, couldn't be more Amayzine. Everything about it is perfect and that has everything to do with Vivian Hoorn, the cover girl. Because Viv, she's something else and here's why.

1. Viv is amayzine

She just belongs with us. Did you know that in the beginning, she shot the photos for the Look of the Days for us? And she did it for a pittance because we were a startup without money and she was happy with the platform? Furthermore, she embodies everything that the Amayzine woman stands for. Adventurous, loyal, smart, funny, stylish, healthy, kind. Anyway. I’ll continue.

2. Viv can do both

Viv is a model, you can see that right away. Once a “normal” model, then she moved to plus size (that happens quickly in the modeling world when you wear size 38) and now she’s back to being very slim. What I find interesting is that Viv does it for herself. She loses weight when she feels like it. In a healthy way, moreover. She doesn’t let a lifestyle dictate her.

3. Viv is honest

How Viv can talk about what she used to eat. Meat, meat, meat. Or about fur. But also about how she has come to insight and reflection. So no more meat, or almost none, and definitely no more fur. She is an animal lover so she has sworn that off and she sees it as her duty to share that with her followers.

4. Oh by the way

She also prefers not to photograph fur.

5. Young girl with a big heart

Viv had already experienced more funerals by the age of twenty than her mother had in her entire life. A dear friend of hers also passed away. Too much sadness for a young girl but Viv did something with it. This also shaped her and precisely because of her deceased friend, she decided to move to Cape Town. Life must be lived. And picked. And there in Cape Town, everything fell into place, but you’ll have to read about that in our magazine.

6. Model turned photographer

Although it’s actually a great shame that someone as beautiful as Viv is behind the camera and not in front of it, she really wanted to photograph. And if she has to choose, she chooses her camera. “I shoot a lot of analog and when my roll is developed, I can be happier about that than about a Chanel bag.”

7. You can laugh with Viv

But really laugh so hard you pee your pants. Check out her account Jaqueline_timemachine. Mix that account with @vivianhoorn and you have the perfect combination. Viv, did I already mention that you’re in my heart?
