Everyone wants to go to Georgia through Who is the Mole
I can totally imagine that the tourist offices are jumping at the moment when the editorial team of Who is the Mole comes by to spot locations. Let's be honest, since last year Portland (actually all of Oregon) has been on many travel enthusiasts' wish lists. Including mine. Thank God that wish came true. (This is how my WIDM trip went by the way.)
But now: Georgia. A country whose name I have only pronounced five times in my life is the playing field of the Mole. And just as the creators manage every year with all that beautiful drone stuff, we suddenly get a little itch to go to Georgia. What. A. Landscape. Georgia is a country with a bit of everything. A jumble of old streets, historic churches, lakes, neighborhoods full of dilapidated houses, restaurants, and here and there some modern architecture. I never thought I would say this, but I spontaneously want to go there. Especially to the capital Tbilisi.
I am not the only one. Thanks to Who is the Mole, the number of searches for flights to Georgia has doubled since the first broadcast, according to research by Tix.nl. Especially after episode 3 (where the landscape was beautifully showcased), we have all started Googling en masse. Why do you also want to head to Georgia? 5 reasons.
- What almost nobody knows is that the country is one of the oldest wine regions in the world. I mean, you've got me right there. In particular, the wine region Kakheti is popular among travelers. Wine tastings with 15 vinos in luxurious resorts? It’s possible.
- The friendliness of the local inhabitants. Go that way and you will see that you will be invited at least once for a drink, a shot, or well, a family dinner. Georgians are very hospitable to tourists. And even though not everyone speaks good English in all areas, you can get quite far with a smile. Those are the real stories for the folks back home.
- Because you want to eat khachapuri. The homemade bread with melted cheese is practically served as a side dish at every dinner and I'm already wild about it.
- So you think your party heart will beat faster from the nightlife in Bangkok? Ha, then you want to experience Tbilisi. And another advantage: Georgia is cheap as fuck. Bring on those cocktails darling.
- One of the most spectacular sights is the Caucasus; the mountains that are seen as the distinctive border between Europe and Asia. What do you mean Insta material?
It's hard to believe that such a magical place attracts so few tourists. You understand: we need to go to Georgia. The next Amayzine group outing? Colleagues? Who's in?
