Fallon from Dynasty
I have a new furtive pleasure. Featherlight. Dynasty. I won't beat around the bush. Fortunately, the screenwriters have given me a few escapes to watch serial and ritualistic Dynasty without ultimate guilt. After all, it is much more progressive than the 1980s version. Steven is gay. And how. As his grandfather said after a furious weekend in New York: ’It's just that the Statue of Liberty didn't have trousers on, or he'd have caught her too.“ The Colby family is dark, Cristal is South American and Fallon is supremely feminine but boils over with ambition. Or as Jeff Colby says when Fallon talks about the dividend of her shares after a game of horizontal activity: ‘I forgot, talking about business is your version of the post-coital cigarette.”
Afijn. Dynasty. Feast your eyes. And I'm not even talking about the outfits, because they did have a blast with those. Meredith Markworth-Pollack is the mastermind behind the outfits. I could go wild about everyone, but today I will focus on Fallon.
Style
Fallon is many and many different guises, but if there is one thing that typifies Fallon's looks, it is that she has to stand out. You have to see her, full stop. So it's colourful. Pronounced. Powerful. AND sexy. Think Balmain. Think Gucci. Lots of Gucci.
Labels
The nice thing about costume designer Meredith (you can follow her at @meredith_costumes, by the way) is that she also wants to use new labels. For the character Cristal, she uses a lot of Latin and Mexican designers, but with Fallon, it's pretty much a case of cut from thick wood. So Gucci, and Balenciaga and Tom Ford and Louboutin and Alexander McQueen.
Typical Fallon
It is often gorgeous but just a touch too much. Too short, too deep-cut, too big buttons, too shiny... It is also stylewise on the other side of the ocean, far, far away from the minimalist effortless chic of the Parisienne on the other side of the world. But may I say I love it? Lovely.
