Sunning makes you slim

The past few days I have finally felt again what it is like to feel some warmth. No guy involved. Sun. And oh, how happy I was. If you, like me, are in a winter slump, I can only recommend you to sneak away for a bit. Not just to boost your vitamin D levels, there is something much nicer that the sun does for you. Research shows that that yellow ball in the sky helps you shed those Christmas pounds. Now that's what I call a perfect excuse.

Researchers from the University of Alberta in Canada discovered that fat cells are melted by sunlight. The cells store less fat when they are in the sun. In fact, the fat dissolves. Professor Peter Light adds that if you reverse the results, you can say that insufficient exposure to sunlight in the northern hemisphere leads to fat storage and the fact that many of us gain weight in winter. In other words: if you live in a place where it rains more than the sun shines (you and I, then), you have thick, fat luck.

Unfortunately, it is still unclear how often and how long you should sunbathe to lose weight. But hey, what does it matter? I think it's a perfect excuse to book my next trip. Spain, Italy, Bali? To be continued…
