The 10 types you encounter on a winter sports trip
Nice, right: sun, sea, and beach, but sun, après-ski, and snow should not be forgotten. This is truly the ultimate vacation. If you haven't had the pleasure of taking a dive in the snow yet; rent skis or a snowboard and go for that (rescue) banana.
If you ski every year, you recognize them. And if you're going for the first time, you want to know them in advance. These are the types you encounter on the slopes:
1. The beginner who is struggling in the lift
The red button is pressed and yes, the lift goes into the anchors. No reason to get angry, we all have been there.
2. That couple who zooms from slope to terrace
Okay, I'm honest: once per vacation this is really nice. Especially if you're a fair-weather skier. But you're there to ski down the mountain, so it's a shame if you're sitting on the terrace with your backside. But admit it: sunbathing and terraces remain tempting.
3. The toddler class gone wrong
Cute to see, all those little kids on tiny skis, but no matter how small they are, they take up space! Dear ski instructor, may we pass?
4. Me Tarzan
Book that flight for a cast and get the banana ready, because the macho men conquer the slopes. With flips, jumping over huts, broken thumbs, and splinted legs.
5. Roosters in front
Those types who set their alarm in the morning to be the very first to take the lift up. Nice and diligent, but it's still vacation. You can overdo it.
6. The braggart on skis
That you skied three meters outside the lines and then someone stands bragging about how phenomenal the off-piste experience was. What do you mean, off-piste?
7. The semi-Olympic skier
We get it. You're better than us, you're unstoppable, amazing, incredible. But could you please not cut off my neat turn next time? Thanks.
8. The whining complainer
Yes, we skiers all seem like a failed robot. Your toes are constantly asleep, but we all suffer from it. So stop whining.
9. The yes-but-last-year
Because that ski area was truly genius and the snow perfect. Only sun. A good reason to go back next year.
10. The sociable enjoyer
That exists in every winter sports enthusiast. The nature, the sport, the coziness, the challenge... Despite the fact that they might also resemble the above types.
