You are a happier person if you have a sister

Look, here we are dealing with a study that I didn't even need a study to confirm: having a sister (or multiple) in life makes you a happier person. I have two examples in my life. Yes, our father was once surrounded at home by women. That is also immediately the reason we decided to get a dog that had to be a male to somewhat ‘balance’ it, as he always said. By the way, if you're doubting about getting a dog; here are all the reasons to do it. Anyway, back to where I wanted to go.

Studies have now been conducted by both Ulster University and De Montfort University, which showed that having a sister is good for you. It makes you happier, kinder, and also more optimistic. For this research, 571 young people between the ages of 17 and 25 participated in a survey, where they had to indicate how happy they felt. What turned out? Having a sister had a positive influence on overall mental health.

‘Sisters ensure that there is better cohesion in families and that you communicate better with each other,’ says Professor Tony Cassidy from Ulster University, specializing in Child & Family Health Psychology. ‘With brothers, this is different because boys have a natural tendency not to talk about many things. Girls, on the other hand, ensure that there is indeed conversation, thus breaking down that wall that boys have built around themselves.’

In short, be grateful for those sisters in your life. They are good for your health. And by the way, they also make you smarter (double win!). If she also hits her dirty thirties soon; make sure you do all these things with her before it gets that far.
