The 5 hotspots to drink coffee in Amsterdam
If you had told me a year ago that I would become a ‘coffee drinker’, I would have called you crazy. I'm the type who wouldn't mean it literally if she asked: ‘shall we grab a coffee soon?’. Someone who orders a cappuccino on vacation with way too much milk and two sugar packets (and still can't finish it), purely because it looks so nice in the photo. But then something strange happened last week: I was having breakfast with a friend and suddenly a little voice in my head told me I had to order a cappuccino.
As if I had never done anything else, I ordered a variant with oat milk and without adding even one spoonful of sugar, I brought the cup to my lips. Maybe it's due to all that sleep deprivation, my taste buds have changed due to pregnancy, or I've suddenly become ‘grown-up’; that cup absolutely tasted like more. Jon has been a passionate espresso drinker for years and goes weekly with his friends to ‘grab a cup’ at the trendiest coffee spots in Amsterdam. Overjoyed with this news, he took me to his favorite coffee shop around the corner last weekend: he had a flat white, I had a cappuccino with oat milk. Now I hear the real coffee drinkers thinking: sounds nice, Carolien, but a cup of milk with a drop of coffee doesn't make you one of us. Maybe I'll stay at this stage, maybe I'll grow into that pure espresso, but for now I've started my search for the best coffee spots in Amsterdam where they at least serve oat milk...

Lot Sixty One
This will be my regular coffee spot. Nice and close to home and they roast their own beans here (you can admire the process live). Don't forget to order one of the delicious cakes.

White Label Coffee
At this coffee spot, you'll find a cozy living room atmosphere where many customers are reading a book or quietly working on the seating tribune. When I didn't drink coffee yet, I already went with Jon to this place for the apple pie.
Toki
In addition to delicious coffee, they also serve excellent breakfasts here. I once went wrong by ordering a ‘Queen Amant’. It's crispy and it's sweet: you really don't know what you're tasting.

Caffè il Momento
This is the perfect spot for coffee on the go. I also find it a lovely place to sit outside and people watch: something I can do for hours in Amsterdam.

Scandinavian Embassy
Scandinavian Embassy brings the best roasters from Scandinavia to Amsterdam. People come from far and wide to taste their specialties. You can also come here for a tasting session or coffee and food pairing. Sounds exciting!
