The holiday feeling is gone after three days again
You save up like crazy, counting down the days... And then? You're back home. Vacation is over. Before you know it, you're longing for those weeks before sun and beach.
That goes faster than you think. According to experts, your vacation feeling would be gone after just three days. Great then. Thousands of euros lighter and you have very little to show for it. In other words: that whole feeling of happiness you have on the beach, that relaxed idea in your head, those empty thoughts and that intensely rosy feeling of those summer days... It all disappears really quickly. And that's not so strange. Because, as experts say, no job in the world is as fun as vacation. So you notice that, no matter how much you enjoy your work.
There's some truth to that. On vacation, for example, time doesn't count. You can have lunch at 11 am, but also at 4 pm, if you feel like it. You can stay out late with six different cocktails without worrying about it, and you can get up early if that's your thing. Exercising isn't necessary, eating is allowed all day. You're tanned, happy, and with the people you love most in your life. After all, you're on vacation with them. Once home, everything is the same again and you might cry when you see that boring brown sandwich with cheese.
The biggest difference? The ‘not having to do anything’. At home, everything is a ‘must’. The hairdresser, the gym, the countless whining friends with all their dramas and misery, work, grocery shopping, cleaning, walking the dog... Everything feels like an obligation, and that's why we love that holiday so much: a break from all the musts. We can, over there on the Côte d’Azur.
What you can do best to hold on to your vacation feeling for a long time? Break your routines: take a half day off, bike a different route, go out for a fancy dinner on the weekend. And focus on the fun things about your job. Because come on, you don't find such wonderful colleagues everywhere. Right? A wise lesson from us, just because it can. Appreciate what you have. And oh... It's only a little while until the Christmas vacation.
