The new collection from River Island is sweeter than ever
Cold weather has been predicted. Next week it will really be winter. With ice skating. And with freezing. But you know: after that spring begins. And with spring comes a refreshed wardrobe.
We can already tell you where you want to be this season for a cool look: River Island. The brand has existed since 2018 for 30 years now and that is celebrated with nice, wearable clothing. Their motto is: “We spread fashion with a bit of fun”. And they do quite well, because the clothing from the chain in London is not only cheerful and striking, but also kind to your wallet. And that’s not the only nice thing about this British top brand.
No. River Island is also coming this year with the special campaign: “Labels are for clothes”. You will soon encounter that slogan everywhere, if it’s up to RI. What does it stand for? They advocate for gay couples, transgender people, and women with curves. But they are also against discrimination based on someone’s ethnicity and ensure that age doesn’t matter either. You are just as valuable at six as you are at eighty-six. And whether you wear a headscarf or not, are yellow or red, and weigh 60 kilos or 160 kilos: nothing matters. We are all human, after all. And that’s why you can better stick a label on a piece of clothing than stereotype someone. The fact that someone else is different from you is just something beautiful, right? A powerful message.
That’s why the brand is now even selling pink shirts and sweaters with the text on them, to draw extra attention to these groups of people. For every sold item, 3 euros are donated to Ditch The Label; an international organization that works against bullying. And here and there on the label in a piece of clothing, next to the washing instructions, it says: “Do mix cultures”. Or: “Do not stereotype”. And also: “Treat with respect”. We love it.
