The trick to take your drink to the next level
With us, the Friday pre-fun starts on Wednesday. Yes, you might as well prepare a little bit responsibly. Who buys wine, who takes care of the food, and who is present? Those are the more important social questions of life. Enough volunteers to carry out activities around this good cause, I can tell you.
Around three o'clock on Friday, our Annabelle starts to shift a bit on her chair, May glances a little sideways at the clock, Annick opens the fridge to inspect its contents, and I get the glasses ready. They might as well be ready for the start. Not that the cork is coming off the bottle yet, we are definitely still working until about five o'clock, maybe even half past five or six.
In the past (as in: last week), one would make a pit stop for a box of wine and the other would take a detour for better snacks, but that’s no longer necessary. We head straight to Lidl and fill our cart with truffle chips, a faux gras (yes, that’s the vegan version), a Black Angus bitterball, a truffle brie, another beer cheese, and maybe I’ll even toss a truffle pizza in the cart for when things start to get out of hand and the hunger turns into a bigger hunger. Via snacks, we steer towards wine, to load up on a nice Barolo and Weissburgunder, which you can all just here order.
And then it’s a matter of ‘pop’, positioning everything nicely on the shelf and clinking one glass against the other. Never going home again. Or at least never going home without snacks from Lidl. Cheers, Amayzers.
