This fashion icon stops using fur

A real breakthrough in the fashion world, because stopping the showcasing and designing of clothing with fur, that is something. That means a lot.

The New York-based luxury fashion company of Diane von Fürstenberg has announced that it will no longer use fur or angora in its designs. Additionally, nothing will be designed that incorporates exotic animals. In other words: a lot better for the animal world and the environment. And it's modern.

PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has been advocating against animal suffering for years. ‘PETA celebrates the compassionate, business-savvy decision of DVF to turn its back on fur and angora,’ says PETA founder Ingrid Newkirk. ‘DVF is the most recent addition to a long list of fashion brands that recognize that fur is outdated, and PETA urges companies that are lagging behind and still sell coats, collars, and cuffs made from tortured animals to catch up with the times and also stop using fur.’

That's right. Time for a new phase in the fashion world. No more fur, no more animal suffering. Don't you want to have that hanging in your closet anymore? Moreover, there is so much fake fur available nowadays that is of such beautiful quality, that we should never ever slaughter a single poor animal for its fur. Just think of your own dog and cat and that they suddenly become a little rug in a chic family. Brrr. Yuck. And why then minks, foxes, or rabbits? The time is here. And we are ready for it. Go fake fur and thank you, Diane.
