This is how you make a pasta salad that isn't disgusting
Irritation number one: a pasta salad with ingredients that don't belong in a pasta salad. Or a dubious mix of products that don't go together at all. I am a true pasta salad critic. That's why I felt obliged to share this secret recipe from our FavorFlav-neighbors with you. Enjoy your meal.
Barbecue? Hanging out in the park? A pasta salad is the solution. It's just a shame that most pasta salads are absolutely disgusting. With these tips, you'll make a delicious meal.
Admit it: you usually eat pasta salad just because it's there. You don't really look forward to it. The pasta is always overcooked, the dressing or sauce has completely soaked into the pasta, and the loose pieces of pasta have come together into one block. Until now, because with these tips, your next salad will be a great success.
Rinse with cold water
Cook the pasta al dente and then immediately rinse it under cold water. This prevents the pasta from overcooking and rinses away the starch. That starch causes the pasta to stick together, and we definitely don't want that.
2x dressing
If you mix all the dressing or sauce into the pasta and put everything in a Tupperware container, the dressing will completely soak into the pasta, resulting in a very dry end product. What a horror. How do you solve this? Mix half of the dressing into the pasta, so everything doesn't stick together right away and you give the pasta some flavor. The second half you mix in just before you eat, for an ultimate ‘saucy’ pasta.
Crunchy
What makes the average pasta salad so uninteresting is that every bite is the same. Boring! To counter this, add a crunchy element. Whether it's chopped nuts or crispy baked breadcrumbs (our favorite), take it in a separate container or bag and sprinkle it over your salad just before serving. This way, it suddenly has many more layers and each bite is even tastier than the last.
Ultimate pasta salad
But what is the pasta salad that combines all these tips? you might wonder. We have found it for you. This pasta salad from Bon Appétit has a dressing of roasted peppers and walnuts, definitely different from the average variant. The crunchy breadcrumbs with lemon make it so you can proudly take this pasta salad to the park.
