This is how you wear your tights in 2018

Your outfit can be super cool, but with the wrong tights underneath, you can really miss the mark. But what is the perfect panty then? Here at the editorial office, we don't immediately agree on that, so I decided to start a thorough investigation. Because does that perfect panty even exist, or is it all about the art of combining? I'll take you into the wonderful world of deniers and designers.

The denier dilemma

20, 30, 40, 50, and 60 denier is what often walks around here at the editorial office. Call it team 20 denier, May prefers a thick, dark variant as an all-time favorite and I find myself comfortably in the middle with my 40 denier. But when do you actually wear a thick one and when a thin panty?

All the way 60

You best withstand the winter cold with a thick panty of 50 or 60 denier. You combine it most beautifully with black cowboy boots or a tough biker pair. Because the shoe and the panty are the same color, your legs appear extra long and slim. If you choose a shoe that is lighter than your panty, it creates a break between your feet and legs (read: optically shorter and wider legs). All day everything black then.

Thin panty

20 and 30 denier is for the sneaker freaks among us. Perfect because it shows just that little bit of extra skin and thus creates the most beautiful transition from light to dark.

Pretty in print

From Gucci and Fendi to Balenciaga and Philosophy: monogrammed and logo tights are hotter than hot this season. In all-over print or placed if you're in the mood for a statement, these types of pantyhose combined with a good basic are your eye catcher.

Do the Blair Waldorf

Go for a dark green, dark blue, or burgundy panty to style your ton sur ton look like a true fashion pro. Sounds more exciting than it is, just give it a try. Bet that compliments will come flying your way?
