This is the most frequently asked question in a job interview

Are you ready for a fresh challenge in your daily life after years of the same and going for that job application? Then you better know one thing.

You are always asked one and the same question, it turns out. And if you prepare well for this, you’ll land that job in no time. What is often asked at the beginning of a job interview is: ‘Can you tell us something about yourself?’ Or something similar: ‘Tell us, who are you?’ Then you always think: gosh, what should I come up with? Saying that I love pink and gold-colored pens? That I order sushi every Sunday? Don’t think you have to talk about your entire past and explain how the relationship between you and your sisters is at the moment. Not at all. Actually, the question is: ‘How would you briefly and concisely describe yourself in a professional context?’

From now on, you know a suitable answer to that. Think about what experience you already have thanks to your other jobs and definitely don’t leave out your volunteer work: this can also be important. Previous research shows that your CV gets a boost if you can state that you once delivered food for free in a nursing home. Don’t forget to mention what your weaknesses are. That seems difficult in such a conversation, because you want to present yourself in the best light, but it doesn’t hurt to reflect on your own shortcomings. What do you do less well and where can you still learn something? Are there ways to work on your flaws within the company? And don’t sneakily say something negative that is also positive, like ‘I sometimes work really too hard’. You sneaky girl. That’s cheating and a boss will quickly see through that.

What you especially shouldn’t say? Something about earning good money here. Or that this job is so close to your home. Or that the hours sound so good. Or that it combines so well with the kids' schedule. Then it all seems like you want to do this new job for convenience. And of course, you don’t do that.

Job interview on the agenda? You can do it.
