This is the meanest ever

And so brilliantly responded Cynthia –Miranda- Nixon

You might know it, or maybe not. I sometimes miss things too. But Cynthia Nixon, you know, our Miranda from Sex and the City, is running for governor of New York. She has already been quite activist with banners and protest signs, but now she is going for the big job. Governor. A reaction to Donald Trump's win, an attempt to defend Hillary. Cynthia is actually doing quite well in response. Hillary look. As long as she doesn't adopt her clothing style (sorry, I love Hil, but not her shiny taffeta and high-necked suits with a cuddly factor of -3. But if I say anything about that, I'll be eaten alive by the feminist elite) I'm fine with everything.

But Cynthia is facing headwinds. From an unexpected corner, I must say. Because Christine Quinn, a woman who once ran to become mayor of New York but didn't make it, is a politician who is a member of the Democrats and also works as a political reporter for CNN. I can really relate to the fact that she doesn't think Cynthia is suitable for the job. Of course, she has no experience in the field. Quinn says: ‘I can also lose twenty kilos and look good on camera, but that doesn't make me a good actress. All the years that someone else puts into developing their acting skills, I have put into other things. The same goes for Nixon.’ So far. There’s some truth to that.

But then came the knockout blow. ‘She is an unqualified lesbian.’ Okay, I didn't know that your sexual preference affects your ability to fulfill a certain job, but apparently I've missed something. By the way, it's a striking statement from a woman who is also into women.

How do you respond to this if you are Cynthia Nixon? At first, she did what is always the best method in a difficult situation: nothing. Someone else stood up for her and had T-shirts made with the text ‘UNQUALIFIED LESBIAN’.

Very funny, Cynthia posted it on her Instagram. Strong. But the urge to hit back remained. During a campaign event in New York, she seized her moment. ‘I just want to say tonight that she (Quinn, of course) was technically right,’ she said. ‘I don’t have my certificate from the Department of Lesbian Affairs. But in my defense, there is a lot of paperwork involved.’

And there Cynthia became a bit Miranda again. So brilliant that I'm going to say: Cynthia for president. Correction: governor.
