This is where you want to be on May 5th
The 8 best Liberation Festivals of 2018
At eight o'clock tonight we will be silent. Two minutes. And I really hope it will be silent, without some sad sack disturbing it. Tomorrow we celebrate our Liberation Day. That you can decide for yourself what you believe, what you do, who you are, what you say, can show where you come from, without anyone having an opinion about it. We will have sunshine, there are parties and these are the tips where you can extraordinarily celebrate freedom.
1. Liberation Pop Haarlem
Perhaps the most fun and the coziest. Go to Haarlem, comfortably sitting on the grass, a beer in hand, strolling from the Houtpodium to the Jupilerpodium (you also immediately know which beer you get) and just celebrate.
Who? Triggerfinger, Alain Clark, Di-rect, Jacqueline Govaert and more.
What? Liberation Pop Haarlem.
Where? Haarlemmerhout.
2. The Free West
Because it's always nice to hang out in Westerpark. You can dance, soak up culture, join a freedom lunch; a great moment to browse in the park, it seems to us.
Who? My Baby, DJ Dikke Thomas with his fat records (no idea who he is, but I want to hear him), Haevn, Moss and more.
What? A free festival, where you encounter all the advantages of Westerpark (think: a Mossel & Jajem stage)
Where? Westerpark, Amsterdam.
3. The Amsterdam Union
I mean, you can't get more Amsterdam than this, there's even a Kopstootbar area. By the way, here you might spot some Amayzers in the wild, so remember: what happens at The Amsterdam Union stays at The Amsterdam Union.
Who? De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig, Michel de Hey, Buurman & Buurman, Jonna Fraser, Super Social and more.
What? A nice festival in the West.
Where? Tuinen van West, Amsterdam Geuzenveld.
5. Liberation Festival Wageningen
Because you have to be there at least once in your life. We know Wageningen from the university and from the Liberation Festival. In the city, you will find 40 stages, so there's a good chance something will suit your taste.
Who? Kraantje Pappie, Miss Montreal, Nielson, Ronnie Flex and ending with a guilty hour from Qmusic.
What? Bevrijdingsfestival Gelderland is the official name.
Where? City center Wageningen and Belmonte Arboretum.
6. At the beach
When Cartel and Amsterdam Roest throw a party together, you get the Vrijland Festival. With your feet in the sand, popping by ‘De Harde Klapper’ or just along ‘Hutjemutje’. If you name the stages like that, you know it's going to be a good day.
Who? Juan Sanchez, De Sluwe Vos, Ras Sjamaan and more.
What? Vrijland Festival.
Where? Blijburg in Amsterdam.
7. In Kiek d’r city you have to be
Utrecht is according to Kiki the place to be. You have the grand festival in Park Transwijk, but you can also go to the Fluff Disco at Strand Oog in Al.
Who? Fedde Le Grand, K’s Choice, Roxeanne Hazes and more.
What?Liberation Festival Utrecht or Fluff Disco.
Where? In Utrecht, so go to Park Transwijk or Strand Oog in Al.
8. We are going to Zwolle
Because Chef’Special is the main act there and I think Chef’Special is awesome, so you have to be in Zwolle. By the way, exactly at 22:15, because that's when they perform. The rest of the lineup is also fun. And Zwolle is nice, so that will be fun.
Who? I said: Chef’Special. And oh yes, Miss Montreal, Fedde Le Grand and Kraantje Pappie are also coming by.
What? Liberation Festival Overijsselis the official name.
Where? In Zwolle, and that is in Overijssel.
