This is why everyone should stop complaining about the weather

Yes, dear people, it is cold. And who knows, it might even snow a little. I secretly like it. I've stocked up on firewood, brought in some nice treats (even whipped cream and waffles), and washed the blankets on the couch. I'm looking forward to it, in short. But I don't dare to say that. Because wherever I go, everyone complains about the weather.

That the weather is getting cold. That we were just a little done with it. That the winter clothes had already been moved to the attic. I understand the feeling, really. It's almost summer time, but can I say a few things?

  1. It is still officially winter.
  2. We live in the Netherlands, not in Barbados. It is occasionally cold here. Or wet. And admit it: you'd rather be cold than wet, right?
  3. The cold hits during the weekend. No trouble getting to work.
  4. It's the best excuse to binge-watch Netflix all day.
  5. Or to cancel that date you weren't really looking forward to anyway.
  6. Your big sweater and warm cardigan can stay on a little longer. So you can postpone that bikini body for a while.
  7. That bottle of Baileys is begging to be mixed into your eleven o'clock coffee.
  8. You can still do winter things. Go to the ice rink. Romantic.
  9. Light a fire in the garden.
  10. And stop whining. Before you know it, you're having an ice cream on the terrace.
