Vandaag drinken we

Will my colleague Danielle sometimes pour a splash of Baileys into my morning cappuccino in winter (“So cozy, May!”), in summer we fix another drink here. Latte on the rocks is what you can wake us, or me at least, up for on warm days like these. It’s easy, quick, delicious, and not fattier than your regular latte. But definitely more festive.

The recipe:

  1. Make your regular coffee
  2. Take four or five large ice cubes. I order those very lazily (by the way, did you know that being lazy is contagious?) in a bag at Albert Heijn (I’ve developed a sort of ice cube fetish, dealing in crushed, in large blocks where you only need one or the regular cubes for gin and tonic), at the office we have the insane luxury of having an AEG fridge that also has all sorts of extraterrestrial capabilities, but it’s also an ice cube machine. I hold my glass underneath, fill it with five cubes, and then turn on the Nespresso.
  3. Froth your milk cold. If you have the Nespresso milk frother, hold it down for two seconds until the light turns blue instead of red. Then you get cold foam. Pour foam into the coffee, add a cozy straw, and your prettiest coffee (because we haven’t even talked about that yet, but it’s really pretty) is ready.

Cheers!
