Amayzine

When I just started with Amayzine, Jetteke vanLexmond helped us create beautiful content. One of the special things she suggested was finding pearls in oysters. One of them was Before They Pass Away, a coffee table book by photographer Jimmy Nelson, in which he photographed indigenous tribes and peoples. That period was the turning point in Jimmy Nelson's life. In any case, nothing was the same as before. He sold more than 300,000 copies and the world begged to be seen by him.

Five years later there is Homage to Humanity. At least as thick as his previous masterpiece. Nelson visited the tribes from then and examined how they are doing now. At least as beautiful, twice as layered. What I find most touching are the collages in between where you see Jimmy and his team in action. Jimmy as a sort of Tintin among the indigenous people, Jimmy taking an old lady by the hand who is half his height. That there is someone doing this work… If I may nominate someone for a medal: Jimmy Nelson is the name.
