Why the peacock will make your life better

You check left, check right, stand on one leg, push your chin a bit forward and squawk: “BAPAAAAAAUW!” (by the way, not to be confused with the bapao bun). I hear you thinking: Look, are you doing well? What is this about?.

You see: ‘the peacock’ is a thing here at our editorial office. Yesterday I received a friendly yet urgent request to explain it to you because we have already had several comments from people who don’t understand ‘it’. A small consolation: the peacock is not understandable. We don’t fully get it ourselves either. It’s a feeling. It happens to you.

The peacock originated during this editorial outing in Greece and has been present here at the office ever since. At least four times a day. Want to annoy a colleague? Do the peacock. Feeling a bit down at the office? Do the peacock. 4 o'clock Cup-a-Soup? Not without peacock. Want to get all the attention on the plane? One word: peacock. The peacock is the equivalent of freedom. Being able to be yourself, unleashing the child in you and especially knowing no shame.

The peacock effortlessly grazes thoughts like ’what will others think of this?‘, ’is this crazy?‘ and ’oh fuck, I’m making a fool of myself‘. We are already being urged all day to act ’normal‘, and sometimes it’s just nice to be anything but that. To rebel. To color outside the lines. So the next time you don’t know anymore, I would say: just do the peacock. We do too, right, Lil? ’BAPAAAAAAUW!“

P.S.: Want to see how we do the peacock? Check this video starting from 0.54 seconds. I tell you: all shame gone.
