Yes really, weekends actually cause you stress

As soon as Friday comes even a little close, it's panic time. It's Tuesday. In other words: ALMOST Friday. I need to do something. This weekend. Something fun.

Saturday needs to be full, and Sunday even fuller, because come on, we have to make the most of these two days off, right? Weekends just bring more stress than weekdays where you can lie on the couch for hours without any guilt. lying on the couch binge-watching Netflix and aimlessly scrolling on your iPad. You feel like you have to do something, that it also has to be really fun. Whatever you plan, it must not disappoint.

Because you completely plan and schedule yourself in circles, that calendar always fills up. Everyone's calendar. Every week again. Sometimes three weeks in advance. Sometimes even three months in advance. A barbecue at your friend's grandfather's, a day out with your mother, a weekend away with friends, a birthday, a farewell party, a baby shower, a wedding of your cousin, and a dinner including game night; it's impossible to keep track, I tell you. All very nice, but we can hardly divide ourselves into eight pieces. We're full, we plan every weekend with days soaked in cocktails and bubbles, and believe us: that ultimately only leads to stress. Real stress. Because then there's another cancellation, a new appointment, a triple appointment. No time, no time. And always a hangover. On Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, yay, hooray.

Guys, honestly, we've all gone a bit crazy. We all do this. It's hard not to join in, because spontaneously meeting up with your girls just doesn't happen anymore. You know what's so nice about vacation? That day after day you have no obligations. You don't have to do anything with anyone. That you have free time. Always being busy is not good for you. Take your rest, even on your weekends in the Netherlands. When was the last time you had nothing scheduled on a Saturday? That your whole Sunday was completely blank? Exactly. Never happened. Certainly not in the summer. Then staying home is completely irresponsible.

Our tip for this weekend: cancel everything you have already planned for next weekend. See what happens to your spontaneous free time. It will surprise you. And if not, you can always scroll aimlessly on your iPad. It works very meditative, you know.
