15 things you want to know about Modern Family

modern family cast

With Phil Dunphy as a spirit animal, our fav Gloria, and of course the favorite couple Cam and Mitch, it's Modern Family that helps us get through the dreariest days (does it ever stop raining?) of the year with laughter and joy. From Phil's High School Musical dance moves to Claire completely losing it around Halloween; this is for all Modern Family fans: extra inside information live from Los Angeles (yes, we have the address of Jay, Gloria, Mitchell, and Cameron). What else do we know that you want to know? Specially from one Modern Family friend to another: 15 things you didn't know about your favorite fam.

1. Our Luke is a gigantic genius. Nolan Gould, the boy who plays Luke Dunphy, has been with an organization called Mensa since he was four and started his very first college course at 13 with an IQ of 150.

2. Claire is older than her stepmother Gloria, even in real life.

3. Julie, the actress who plays Claire, was pregnant with her twins during the auditions. Even when they were filming the pilot, she hadn't given birth yet, which meant they had to use all sorts of props (from laundry baskets to cereal boxes) for her not so pregnant look.

4. Lily was played by the twins Ella and Jaden who earned about $200 (per person, per episode!). During season 2, the girls' mother decided to stop because the girls weren't enjoying it enough. The producers were really upset and tried to persuade the parents with, believe it or not: $34,000 (yes, again per person per episode), which the parents still turned down.

5. Jay was almost not Jay; the role was initially offered to Craig T. Nelson, but he turned it down. Luckily, because no other Jay can compete with Ed O’Neill.

6. Eric Stonestreet (Cam) has also worked as a clown in real life, and even then he was called Fizbo.

7. The story that Mitchell came out to his father more than once is based on the real life of actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

8. Glen, you know, Phil Dunphy's arch-nemesis, was initially supposed to get the role of Phil.

9. Sofía Vergara (Gloria) has been named the highest-paid television actress in the world for the fifth year in a row. She earned over 38 million euros in the past twelve months. Ka-ching.

10. There are 226 episodes averaging 22 minutes. 226 times 22 is 4,972 minutes, which is 298,320 seconds of Modern Family.

11. Britney Spears was offered a role for season 3.

12. Jay's dog, Stella, was suddenly switched out for another dog. Noticed?

13. Dylan is the only character from the series who appears in every season but is not part of the family.

14. The cast of the series made a pact from season 1 that no one would be seen as a ‘lead actor/actress’. All roles are thus ‘supporting’ roles, so no one would be more important.

15. Jay and Gloria's house is the Sinnott Residence and is located on Cliffwood Ave, LA. Mitchell and Cameron's house is on Fox Hills Dr., and Mr. Phil-o-sophy's house is filmed at 10336 Dunleer. The houses are all a maximum of a quarter of an hour apart, so if you happen to be nearby... Definitely schedule a photo moment on the porch at Gloria's (hashtag lifegoals).
