24 hours en route: love for Delft

lilian traveling through Delft hotspots and shops drinking coffee on the terrace and plant store laughing

Although enough tourists take a day trip to Delft, there are very few of us who have Delft on the itinerary as a city trip. It may not be a gigantic unit of a city, you might miss a Zara or the Bijenkorf, but the people are nice, there are seas of parking spots available, the shops are surprisingly exclusive, and the food is incredibly delicious. 24 hours in Delft, we tore there this week with our Renault TWINGO to it. And believe me: you want to do this too. I have the proof.

Breakfast for champs

Kek – Voldersgracht 27

With a lot of luck, we score the last table at Kek. Once the menu is in front of us, we immediately understand where that weekday hustle comes from. Fluffy pancakes, smashed avocado toast, healthy shakes, homemade cakes, coffees, salads, bowls: everything that comes by looks like a work of art and we want to order it again immediately. In the end, it became a dream of seasonal fruits with apple crumble and oven yogurt (yes, it really exists) + avo toast to share. A recommendation, you understand. Oh, and once inside, you really have to take a photo, every corner in this place screams for a hashtag on Instagram.

Shopping

One after another concept store is what we encountered in Delft. One of the shops where we wandered around for way too long was Instore, where the prettiest bikinis hung in front of us, festival looks were up for grabs, and the cutest jewelry and home accessories were waiting for us. A case of entering at your own risk. And don't forget At Marlies, Loco Lama and SUP-R. to walk in, if you’ve really caught the concept store taste.

At Marlies – Beestenmarkt 13

Loco Lama – Molslaan 35

SUP-R. – Wijnhaven 9

More shopping

Also for the interior junkies, Delft is a top tip. We ended up in the cutest plant shop ever. Groene vingers not only sells the coolest, never-before-seen plants for the home, but also the cutest home deco, jewelry, and gifts. So many cute plates on the wall, animal heads as plant pots, and the coolest baskets made this a must-visit in Delft. Where you definitely also want to make a pit stop? Seven Days. Be warned: once inside, you’ll want to restyle your entire house immediately.

Groene vingers – Burgwal 23

Seven Days – Oude Langendijk 7A

Coffee o’clock

Barbaar – Sint Agathaplein 4

Time for coffee and okay, a big piece of cake. We’ve earned it, right? Shopping is quite a heavy task or feel free to call it a top sport. I mean: all those bags to carry… Thank god our trunk is super big, our biceps are strong enough, and there’s enough caffeine in a double espresso to get back at it after the coffee break at Barbaar. Bar\/baar is hidden in a cool courtyard where light strings decorate the trees and your coffee tastes its best.

Strike a pose

Instagrammable spots where likes will fly at you are also in abundance with Amayzines favorite spots:

  • The selfie wall at SUP-R.
  • The Oostpoort
  • The bridge on the Oude Delft
  • The tower of the Nieuwe Kerk
  • Agathaplein
  • Trompetstraat

Lunch

Time for hummus at Hummus, the lunch spot where you wish to never get full and can enjoy the delicious food forever. A cool design, super beautiful interior (that pink couch, love it) and an incredibly extensive menu is what makes our food heart beat faster. Tip tip tip. Oh, and for all the hipster gluten-free birds, I definitely have something nice: HAKA. A salad bar in a completely gluten-free variant. Really delicious.

Hummus – Molslaan 39

HAKA – Wijnhalven 13

And even more food you can find in De Centrale. On the middle floor of the national monument the Koornbeurs (which used to be a dark, shabby student hole) appeared De Centrale. There is a lot of light, a round central bar, and everything (from coffee cookies to furniture) is made in-house. A really cool place to dine, with a super delicious menu and amazing food styling on your plate. De Centrale, guys, have you noted that down?

De Centrale – Voldersgracht 2

So, and now back to Amsterdam. It's just that our Renault TWINGO feels like coming home, otherwise we would probably already be feeling homesick in the parking lot. And, let me know when you end up in Delft? It could very well be that we run into each other at one of the above places, sounds fun to me!
