The Affair season 5: Everything you want to know and the trailer

the affair season 5 netflix series

All good things come to an end. Yes, so does The Affair. Season 5 will be the last season and that is of course a shame. On the other hand: I never thought beforehand that you could stretch an affair to as many as five seasons, which also manage to captivate for five seasons. So in that sense: hats off. Admittedly: I found season 3 to be a bit of a dip, but in season 4 I was completely back in, so I can't wait for season 5 to come out. When that is, I can already tell you, namely August 25. One small downside is that Joshua Jackson a.k.a. Cole Lockhart is really exiting. Since Dawson’s Creek (which was actually a bad series, right) I've always had a crush on him.

Small silver lining: it's not completely certain that we won't see Cole. The creators tease that he might still make an appearance here and there. Yes. Please. What else can we expect from season 5? Well, one thing is for sure: there will be a time jump. I always find that exciting, because it can sometimes turn out wrong – hey there, Pretty Little Liars. So we also say goodbye to the actress of Joanie Lockhart, who will be played by Anna Paquin (The Piano, for which she won an Oscar at the age of eleven) from season 5.

Spoilers incoming, so look away quickly if you haven't finished season 4: Alison (Ruth Wilson) logically won't be back in season 5. Logical, because she has passed away. Too bad, because I actually found her one of the favorites in season 4. A telling detail is that this departure may not have been entirely planned. According to Hollywood gossip, there were indeed arguments behind the scenes between the actors. Juicy, juicy. That at least explains why she was suddenly killed off on screen. Hopefully, we will get an explanation for that in the last season. Fingers crossed.

Joshua Jackson and Ruth Wilson are not the only ones leaving the cast: in total, three are leaving and six new ones are joining. Six. Holy, I really wonder where all the storylines are going, man. Who knows, it might really be a trainwreck but anyway, I'm completely ready for it. With the end of a series, you always have people who are happy and those who find it terrible, people are still fiercely debating about Game of Thrones, so I will fully engage in this discussion. Let’s do it.

Oh yes, just a tiny detail: August 25 is when it comes out, but Netflix has not yet provided updates on when we can see it in the Netherlands. Let's assume the positive: we are at most a week behind. We are counting on you, Netflix.
