8x the coziest (and prettiest) pop-up ice rinks in the Netherlands

Winter wonderland means ice fun. And I don't know about you, but I still find it quite a challenge to find the perfect ice rink around the corner. A little extra research seemed to me the least we could do, with many cold days ahead. From Amsterdam and Rotterdam to a floating ice rink in Leiden and the famous Christmas market in Maastricht: these are the eight coziest (and very Instagrammable) pop-up ice rinks in the Netherlands. So, shall I see you tomorrow at the Museumplein? Or shall we take a round around the Gouda town hall? I'm sharpening my skates already, bye.
Ice Amsterdam
Perhaps the most beautiful ice rink in the Netherlands at the Museumplein in Amsterdam. The bridge (a replica of the Magere Brug) begs for a snapshot with a view over the ice rink, and once you've finished skating, the Christmas market including hot chocolate is the best idea.
Open until February 2, Sunday to Thursday from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM and Friday and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Entrance and skate rental from €6.

Open Air Museum, Arnhem
Inspired by the seventeenth century, it is old-fashioned winter fun on the large ice rink in front of the Amsterdam Westerstraat in Arnhem. There is a sledding track by the mill, free skate rental, and lots of colored light garlands that make you want to spend the winter here.

Het Vrijthof, Maastricht
You can skate at the most beautiful Christmas market in the Netherlands in Maastricht at Het Vrijthof. An ice rink of no less than 900 square meters has been set up, and once you've finished skating, the best glühwein, a lit-up Ferris wheel, and many Christmas stalls are waiting to be visited by you.
Open until January 5, Mon-Wed: 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM and Thu-Sun: 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM, entrance: €5.

Winter Village, Laren
Just because the entrance is free, but certainly also thanks to the outdoor bar, the very Instagrammable decoration, and not unimportantly: the best cheese fondue on the menu makes the Winter Village 100% worth a visit.
