According to experts, you need to do three simple things to be successful

Would you finally like to get promoted this year? Experience that breakthrough in your career? Come up with the new Google?

Then we know what you need to do. Because daydreaming a bit about what you want in life is one thing, but turning those dreams into reality is a whole different story. Yet it doesn't seem complicated. Research shows that successful people actually do three very simple things.

First of all: get enough sleep.
Personally, I find this one funny now that I have two children who love to drink milk at night. Sleep sounds like something from a distant past to me. But yes, if you want to be able to shine at work and think clearly, sleep is a must. Go to bed early, don't spend the whole weekend at the pub, sorry. If you want to reach the top, you'll have to give up some late-night drinks. Stay focused and aim for those 7 to 9 hours per night. Less sleep than this lowers your IQ, experts say.

Save.
Okay, I also find this one funny personally. I want to save, but I always see another cute dress or a pair of boots that would look so good on my feet. I can't help it: new clothes, a new bag, getting my nails done... Or: putting aside money in an account. Boring. So boring. But okay. If we want to get ahead and leave the competition behind, then save before you spend. Only invest in your own business or idea when money is already coming in. It's also about perseverance and control. Can you resist the temptation to buy that bag now? Then you can buy an even nicer bag with your earned money in a year. But you do need a dose of patience and self-control.

Make optimal use of your brain.
My favorite from this list. Develop a positive mindset for yourself. Don't think: this already exists, my colleague can do this much better, it will take me a year... Stop sulking and worrying and think positively. Always believe that you can do it. If you don't believe it, who will? And believing wholeheartedly already gets you halfway there. Furthermore: in the morning your brain is the fittest, so make sure to do work that requires thinking then. In the afternoon, you can better collaborate or meet with colleagues, because then you crave some social activities. And in the evening, you can reflect well on your work, set new goals, and look forward to the future. Possibly with a glass of wine. Oh no, that wasn't allowed from number 1. Well, being successful is nice, but also keep it a bit cozy.
