Cheers to this new Netflix movie about friendship and wine

Okay, it's Monday, so maybe you're not quite in the mood yet, but let's talk about... wine. A lot. Of. Wine. Chardonnay. Pinot Grigio. A bit of Sauvignon Blanc and here and there a Pinot Noir. Who knows, maybe even some of champagne. If you really overindulged this weekend (or in the wine bottle), save this link for later or pop an ibuprofen. Or no, actually don't. This type of wine is perfectly fine for a stay-at-home and couch night.

Yes, wine then. And that in combination with Netflix and girlfriends. Golden formula, it seems to me. Well, the big bosses at Netflix thought so too. And that's how it came to be that on May 10, the movie Wine Country will be released, featuring Amy Poehler and Tina Fey among others. In the trailer, the glasses and bottles of wine are already too many to count on one hand, so that promises at least a lot of good.

Wine Country is about a group of six girlfriends who travel to Napa Valley to celebrate the fiftieth birthday of one of the wine lovers. A bit of a wine connoisseur knows, of course, that Napa Valley is the wine paradise on the west coast of the US. A location that has suddenly shot up very high on my bucket list. I’ll take a wine trip like that too, please.

The birthday trip is organized by Abby, a control freak who has planned everything down to the minute. You can guess that nothing will come of that, especially due to the many glasses of wine that are being consumed in the meantime. Relatable. After two glasses of wine my planning usually goes out the window.

But the only thing you need to plan now is a night with friends, grab a few bottles of wine, and watch this movie. Luckily, I don't have to think about my fiftieth birthday just yet (although it often feels like I've already hit that age on Monday mornings), but when that time comes, I’d like to celebrate it like that, you know. In fact, when I hit The Big 3-0 (the horror), I would love to wash that down with a bottle or two. Maybe I'll treat myself to that, a Trip du Vino. I think Wine Country will give me the necessary inspiration.
