Demi Moore: ‘My mother had me raped for money’

Demi Moore on the red carpet in front of a black wall

Okay. Wait a minute. Intense statements this. Demi Moore is coming out with a book.

The 56-year-old actress has written her entire life story in her memoirs Inside Out, but now there is actually only one topic everyone is talking about: namely that her mother had her raped at the age of fifteen for money. So it says in the book, at least. According to Demi, her mother took her to bars so they would attract the attention of men.

One time they came home from such an evening and a man was waiting by their apartment, who then raped her. He supposedly said afterwards: ‘How does it feel to be whored out for 500 dollars?’ Despite the fact that the actress calls it rape and ‘terrible betrayal’ in her book, she is somewhat milder in an interview with Good Morning America. ‘I don’t think it was directly about a transaction of goods,’ when asked if she thinks she was ‘sold’ by her mother, to which she replies: ‘Deep down I don’t think so, no. But she did offer him access and put me in that position.’ Diane Sawyer from ABC News had an exclusive interview with Demi, in which she tells everything. The only thing I can think is: how lost must you be as a mother to make these choices?
