Done with those group chats? From now on, WhatsApp has the feature we've always been missing.

Whatever you do, make sure to go to your settings in WhatsApp today. Because being added to 551 group chats is over.

You can now select who you are allowed to add in group apps. And that makes a difference. No more three thousand missed chats about your aunt's ex's birthday. Joe, you decide who can throw you into a group chat. You can find the feature under Settings, Account, and then the Privacy option. Go to the ‘Groups’ menu and select whether all your known contacts can add you to a group, no one, or everyone, even if you don't have their phone number saved on your mobile.

If you check ‘no one’ and thus select zero contacts, you will receive an invitation when someone wants to add you to a group app. If you accept that, you can chat away in the group. If you ignore the invitation for 72 hours or if you refuse it, then you have peace of mind. The blocked user will not receive a notification at that moment. They will only receive a message that they can invite you privately for the conversation, but that’s where it ends. Handy. And above all: peaceful.
