Fans of The Vampire Diaries want to see the new series The Order

New (fun, indeed) series are always welcome. But especially fans of The Vampire Diaries – which has been 2 years ago last episode – will have received the new series The Order with open arms. The first season comes out on March 7 on Netflix, so not just the first episode, no, the whole season. Then you are already 1-0 ahead with me, because I am personally bad at having to wait weeks for a new episode (looking at you, Riverdale).
For now, only the trailer is known, but comparisons with The Vampire Diaries are already being made on the internet. Probably because both series deal with a mysterious (supernatural) history. Although I don't think vampires will play a big role in The Order, it does seem certain that something supernatural is going on. A small downside is that we also can't expect a sexy vampire like Ian Somerhalder but the main characters of The Order are all still relatively unknown, so who knows, there might be a good replacement among them.
The Order tells the story of Jack, a freshman who delves into a secret society that is said to exist at his university. That society has a fairy-tale-like name, the Hermetic Order of the Blue Rose (I wonder how they come up with names like that for these kinds of series, almost poetic), and shortly after, Jack actually receives a blue rose in his room. He becomes a member of the society and gets embroiled in dark secrets, tragic family events, and... werewolves. Okay, maybe the hope for vampires isn't completely gone after all. Maybe even a cameo from Ian? Who knows. I remain positive.
I do think that The Order will be a bit more exciting and scarier than The Vampire Diaries. It is also described as a horror/drama, which I personally find a unique combo. Maybe intense murders, bloody werewolves, and a love story à la Romeo and Juliet on the side? We still have to wait a bit to find out, but I bet this will be another big hit for Netflix.
Just one more week to wait until the first season goes online. Then you can binge 10 episodes with peace of mind. I'm already looking forward to it. Oh yes, another little fun tidbit for when you really only want to see Ian Somerhalder: the series V-Wars will also be coming to Netflix soon, in which he plays the lead role. And, very surprisingly: this series is about vampires. I have the feeling that Mr. Somerhalder is quite comfortable in his favorite genre.
