How are the stars from the Christmas movies doing now?

Taking the lead in a Christmas movie is quite a different caliber than, say, a Leo DiCaprio. No, being a Christmas star means that you are repeated for years and known for just one film. That Christmas role is basically your resume. Quite sad, when you look at it that way. And I think there are very few who have escaped this. In fact, a number of them haven't exactly fared better. So it's time for a round of ‘How are they doing now...?’, in this episode: your favorite Christmas stars.

1. Macaulay Culkin. Yes, let's start with the most famous one. Mr. Home Alone. And Mr. Richie Rich too, by the way (I also watched that one often at Christmas). He was ten years old when he landed this role and twelve when he starred in the second part. And then... Well, apart from Richie Rich, he hasn't accomplished much more. Yes, he dated Mila Kunis for years (definitely something to be proud of), but otherwise, Macaulay was mainly known for his struggles with drugs, alcohol, and his homeless look. Sad. The latest update is that he is sober now, and no longer skin and bones. A nice Christmas thought.

2. Thomas Brodie-Sangster, the too cute boy from Love Actually. Who is now 29, so he isn't that cute anymore. However, this Thomas has made significant strides: he shines in blockbusters like The Maze Runner and Star Wars and had a role in Game of Thrones. So things are going quite well for this man, although his name may not ring a bell for everyone. Something tells me he probably doesn't mind that too much.

3. Taylor Momsen. Yesss, Jenny from Gossip Girl also started as a Christmas star. In How The Grinch Stole Christmas, alongside Jim Carrey. As we all know, she quickly moved to The Upper East Side. Her life nowadays is not very Upper East Side-ish anymore: she has been singing in her rock band The Pretty Reckless for years and has never outgrown her raccoon phase. So yes, still pitch-black makeup around her eyes, although she does have a genuinely good voice (the music itself is not really my genre).

4. Nicholas Hoult. Played alongside Hugh Grant when he was still a little Nicholas, the lead role in About A Boy. And that was just the beginning of his resume, the best man is now 30 years old and has played quite a few roles. In X-Men, Deadpool, and The Favourite, for example. I must honestly admit that I know him as former Mr. Lawrence, because he dated Jennifer Lawrence for a few years. He does well, of course.

5. Jonathan Taylor Thomas. In I’ll Be Home For Christmas and Who Stole Santa? this man played the lead roles, of which the first is certainly an underrated Christmas movie. You might also know him as the American voice of Simba, and he starred for several years in the series Home Improvement. Oh yes, and he was everyone’s crush back in the day. Understandably so, because he is still too cute for words with his babyface. No idea what he thinks about that (he's already 38), as he is unfortunately no longer really in the spotlight. His last role is from 2015. Too bad.
