If you prefer autumn over summer: you are not crazy

That smell. Going outside and smelling rain and colored leaves and the cozy autumn. That is fall. And then I am so happy.

Of course, I am not cheering when I get a bucket of rain on my head while cycling. Of course, I also love beach dresses, sun, warmth, and evenings in the garden or by the pool. But there is no season more beautiful than autumn.

I am fortunately not the only one who thinks this. Research shows that as many as 29% of people choose autumn. Spring and summer are also loved, but yes, they just don't have that cozy feeling that autumn has. Because you know what it is with autumn? There is a bit more peace. A bit more time for myself. It doesn't scream: get on that boat! Get a tan on the beach! Hang out on the terrace for hours! Summer does that a bit to me. Then it feels like I always have to be busy and that if I'm not, I have no life.

In autumn, I can enjoy being at home, chatting with tea and homemade butter cake, and treating myself to the finest wardrobe of the year. No airy dress where I always feel just a kilo or three too heavy for. Just nice a turtleneck, a soft cashmere sweater, a beautiful long coat, boots, and I immediately feel four hundred times prettier. Especially when I’m waddling down the street with a pumpkin spiced latte in my hands.

Another plus point about autumn: I always feel extra motivated in autumn to achieve something. It is the season in which I feel good in my skin, work hard, do a lot of work, and work for my dreams. For years I have wanted to write a book about happiness and psychology, and now I am working on that every week. Finally, something is really happening. In summer, there was always something that distracted me; now everyone is snuggling up with a blanket on the couch, and I can write and do research. Because of that, I have more energy than I do in summer, while you would think that summer gives you a boost because of the long sunny days. Just give me those autumn leaves in a thousand shades of yellow, red, and brown.

You are not crazy if you become happy from autumn. Check off this list:

-The colors outside. Go to the forest, the heath, something. Nature doesn't get more beautiful than this.

-It is a perfect season to still catch some late summer with a long weekend in Southern Europe, without paying the top price (if you are reading this, I am in Ibiza, sorry).

-The rain tapping on the windows while you sit warm inside or lie in bed: pure happiness.

-More people get into a relationship in autumn than in any other season. Hi romance.

-You have more time for your passions.

-It is a season of family and going away with family.

-It is the time of year for red wine and good conversations. I love it.

Fortunately, I have until Sunday, December 22.
