It is possible: easy and free parking in Amsterdam

may with a renault zoe

For an appointment within the Ring Amsterdam, I hop on my bike or order a taxi, because tearing through the canals in my own car sounds incredibly appealing, but the only free parking spot you see is reserved for the electric taxi. Familiar problem? Well, I have good news for you, good news for me.

Fetch is coming to town, in collaboration with the Municipality of Amsterdam and Renault. This means that two hundred Renault ZOE’s are ready for you to drive around the city. The Renault ZOE is electric, can travel three hundred kilometers on a full battery without any problems, is therefore much kinder to the planet, and (hooray) that one free parking spot on the canal is now yours.

Let me quickly explain how it works. You pay ten euros once for the downloading of the app, and you immediately get nine euros in driving credit back, and off you go. We can't make it simpler. You pay thirty cents per minute, so for a ride from Schinkel (the coolest neighborhood where our editorial office is located) to the Jordaan, about ten minutes outside of rush hour, I spend three euros. Guys, try getting a taxi for that when it rains.
