Why January is the best time to go on a date

It now seems like it's January 74, 2019. That can't be, I really understand that, but it really feels that way.
The month lasts quite a long time and is pretty cold, dark, and gray. Not that I mind the cold too much, because with a huge baby belly you can't really do much more than lie on the couch. It's much more comfortable to lie down with a temperature of -9 outside. But that month feels like an eternity. I feel like it's almost early March now, but no. Just a few more weeks of babies in the belly to go.
Yet I have good news. At least, for the singles among us. Because January is actually the best month of the year to score a date online. At this time of year, there are as many as 50 million messages going back and forth on online dating sites, and yes, about a million people actually go on a date. Something to do with New Year's resolutions and not wanting to sit alone at the Christmas dinner again at the end of this year. The peak on the apps lasts until early February, so seize that opportunity while you can. Who knows who might be out there for you. Everyone is craving it. And believe me: a lot can happen in a whole year that you still have ahead of you.
And don't pretend it doesn't apply to you, because of the 2.7 million singles in the Netherlands, no less than a third uses a dating site or app, according to CBS. Of this number, about 1.4 million people are very active in dating. So hop, just obediently give out free hearts and likes and thumbs up to a handsome photo and stay a little optimistic. It takes singles an average of about 38 hours of swiping and chatting to meet one person they met through an app in real life. So you better start with the whole game.
Because before you know it, it really is early March. And then flirting will undoubtedly be a lot harder.
