Jetteke's road trip through Portugal

In my life, I have a number of taste barometers. People who can blindfold you and drop you anywhere in the world. If they say that life is good there, you believe it. When Jetteke asked me to write a report for Amayzine about her trip to Portugal, I could only hit caps lock and type an incredibly long ‘yes’. So Jetteke, take it away. Where should we eat, sleep, swim, and read?

If you leave Comporta behind, you drive into the interior of Portugal in just over an hour. Our destination is located in the middle of a vineyard in the heart of Alentejo. It is only 15 minutes from Évora and 45 minutes from Lisbon. There you will find olive trees hundreds of years old and an incredible number of cork trees in return. So beautiful. We arrive at resort L’and Vineyards, an architectural masterpiece. The lobby of our hotel feels like stepping onto the film set of Tom Ford's ‘Single Man’, equipped with only the finest in design.

The friendliest team shows us the way to the site, where ‘less is more’ prevails, but it is still equipped with all luxury. The swimming pool is one of size and perfect for cooling off after you have ticked off some highlights of Alentejo. For example, the medieval town of Montemor-o-Novo in Évora is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. You will definitely visit the cathedral, a palace, or a church of Moorish origin. Or you can choose the wine route, where you visit the breathtaking village of Monsaraz at the top of the hill and pass the Alqueva lake.

Back at the hotel, the enjoyment of the spa begins, with an indoor pool, a sauna, or a nice treatment. In the restaurant, you will find only products from the region, all organic and of high quality. And breakfast, oh, what a feast, I think back to it with a smile on my face. After a stay of three nights, we get back in the car and in a little over an hour we are at the airport, to come back very soon. Oh Portugal, we love you.
