Just about that video of Wes and Yo

Let me start by saying that I was quite touched by the Instagram post from Wesley Sneijder in which he says he has ‘screwed up’ and asks for peace for his family. It must also be terrible that you have to deal with the world and their opinions while in the depths of your sorrow. I was about to respect the request until I saw this video. Then my hands, which I wanted to bind behind my back all day to avoid writing, suddenly came out again. Because the video that Wesley and Yolanthe made two weeks ago is one where the appropriate word to describe it still needs to be invented. Is it disgusting? Is it touching? Or is it everything in between? I have a thousand questions in any case.

1. Why?

Wesley, Yolanthe, this was not a compilation of the beautiful moments you have experienced over the past years. This is a real directed love video. What was the reason? Were you going to send out an invitation for a love party? What was the trigger?

2. Did it already play?

I look at Yolanthe who throws herself at Wesley with full dedication. Her eyes. Is she secretly thinking: I love you, or is she thinking: I will eat you up and I hate you?

Or did she know nothing and then discovered a credit card statement that didn't add up and a secret app conversation?

3. It's quite uh... a lot.

And that sandbox in Doha and those skyscrapers and those quads and that jetski and the leopard leggings and those extensions. I almost forgot the white horse. Especially that shot of the hooves on the paved road. Divine.

4. The music

It's just that the scores for The Evening of Film Music have already been written, but otherwise I would really want to bring this film score to the attention of the Metropole Orchestra.

6. Who directed it?

Was it Steven? Was it Bradley? For Pedro, it seems a bit too polished. In any case, Hollywood should cast Yolanthe immediately for a thousand leading roles, because what a top actress this woman is. At least, if she suspected everything back then. She looks as if she has never been happier.

We are torn between the white horse and the castle and running after each other in the desert (with leopard leggings).

But dear Wesley and Yolanthe, all jokes aside. I would have much preferred to criticize this video if it had come into the world for no reason. I genuinely find it sad and unfortunate that you are separating. You have been together for so long. Your life seemed (and I think really was) grand. You made the most beautiful little boy that came from love and I still get a pang in my stomach when I think of that Insta post from Wesley trying to protect Yolanthe in his own way. But this video, dear people, does not belong on the list of your best ideas ever.
