King's Day food that is secretly delicious

Tomato juice only tastes good on the plane, beschuit with muisjes is a must for new babies, and nothing beats a shawarma sandwich at three in the morning. You have those classics that you only eat when you're ten kilometers in the air or when you've been hanging on the prethaak. It just so happens King's Day to be, typically one of those days when you eat your way through your village or city. These are our indulgences.

1. You have breakfast with an orange tompouce

If you can't find that anywhere, then the orange donut with sprinkles is also allowed. In the meantime, you can enjoy cheering for Willie and Max on TV.

2. Egg

After half an hour, you feel a little hungry again and at this point, you realize that the orange glaze doesn't quite cover breakfast. To soothe your night of Orange, you fry an egg.

3. King's Day is crack day

Nothing beats a pit stop at the hot dog stand.

4. A pita cheese snack

Not too heavy, not too light, with enough cheese and a chance for a double dip in the garlic sauce.

5. Poffertjes with powdered sugar

Just at the stand, a cup of Dutch glory topped with disappearing sugar. This is what you come for at the flea market.

6. Garlic sauce on all pizzas

It doesn't really matter which pizza it is, as long as you can eat garlic sauce.

7. The liquid dinner

Because you are actually eating beer or orange bitters. The. Whole. Day. Long.

8. Fries to go

And because fries is the free translation of party, a paper cone to sit on a sidewalk with.
