May's favorite children's clothing

“Where do you shop?” Our office manager has a nine-month-old daughter and sometimes dives onto the large pouf in front of my desk. To show a video, to sigh (often out of pride, sometimes out of concern) and now to find some brands. For all the new girl-moms, my favorites. Because use that baby time, before you know it they have their own will and their own ‘taste’ and they walk from crown to calf in sequins.

1. Petit Bateau

My all-time favorite. The quality is amazing, the design is classic. You are immediately transported to Normandy, Paris, or the Côte. It is never loud, always soft, and there is so much attention to detail. Just stitched a little ribbon under the buttons, a collar in a different fabric. Love comes to you in fifth gear.

2. Jacadi

Once only available in France, but now also online. For when you have a classic taste or an occasion for which you want to dress your child classically. For the quality and allure, I find it quite affordable.

3. Club Cinq

Did I say that Petit Bateau was my all-time favorite? Club Cinq is my great love. If only because everything is made in the Netherlands, from fabrics that Kathelijn, the woman behind the label, buys up. I have never seen anything there that I didn't find stunningly beautiful. The tulle skirts with the golden trim, dresses that draw you into a story like the Elba dress or the St. Michel dress, the soft, faded colors... And her boys' clothes. They beg for a British prince. And did I mention that Club Cinq has recently started making clothes for adults too? I'm such a fan.

4. Gray Label

Finally a brand that also sells black items for babies. After a while, you do get a bit tired of all that sugary sweetness, right? And some children look great with a bit of bite. The materials from Gray Label are soft and supple, and everything is sustainably produced. It is a very basic brand, without frills but everything is beautiful. And the sandals... Oh, the sandals.

5. Ralph Lauren

Somewhere in me resides an awful snob, I fear, but for children, I really love that preppy look. Stock up when you're in New York or give someone you know who is going to the US a shopping list, because there Ralph Lauren is really much cheaper.

6. Catwalk Junkie

And especially the Mini & Me collection they launched with De Huismuts. So cute.

7. 10 Days

That is exactly the brand you need to be at when your child feels too old for the polished and fluffy. It fits well, has good quality, and is cool.

8. Scotch & Soda

Exactly what they and we like. Cheerful and cool. And if you're shopping on their site anyway, grab something for yourself too. Right, isn't that so?
