Move over, Sem, this is the most chosen children's name

We humans are herd animals and trends are everywhere. Not just in fashion, but also when it comes to names for your newborn kid. Are we creative in that? Not really. Sem, Mees, Sophie, and Tess have been shining at the top of the popular list for years. The Social Insurance Bank (you know, the ones who pay out child benefits) looked up which two names were the most popular in 2018 and what do you know? Good old Julia (always a classic) and Lucas.

Last year, 681 Lucassen and 797 Julia’s were delivered by the stork. A year earlier, Noah and Emma were still the most popular baby names. It's also funny to see that there are regional differences. In Groningen, Friesland, and Drenthe, the name Lieke is often chosen, while in Flevoland and Zeeland, they prefer Jan and Liam. Hmm, Liam, also nice by the way…
