If you win the World Travel Awards as an island, then it's a scandal that we've never written about you. It's not Ibiza, and we're skipping Santorini for now, because Madeira is getting the honor this year.

The Portuguese Madeira is also sometimes called the flower island. Not surprising, because the island in the Atlantic Ocean is the prettiest girl in the class. Think: natural swimming pools, stunning mountains, waterfalls showing off their best side, and flowers, of course. I actually don't understand why I had never been there before, because the weather is also exceptionally mild all year round.
