Oh, hello: these are the sexiest names for men and women

Well, names, it remains a tricky thing. I used to have trouble finding a suitable name for my hamster (it had to fit him, of course) and it was a huge crisis when I had to provide names for not one, but two cats. I don't have children yet, but just thinking about having to come up with a suitable name for them is stressful… Pfff. Stress. Now I am blessed with a name that is anything but sexy (thanks mom and dad), which I would have loved to change during my teenage years. But yeah, change it to what? With blonde hair and blue eyes, I can't really go through life as a Beyoncé or Shakira. Well, I can, of course, but the introductions will probably go a bit differently, I think.

The website BabyNameWizard conducted research on what people consider the sexiest names of all time. Disclaimer: it’s not just about Dutch names, so Henk and Ank unfortunately didn’t make the top 10. However, we do see surprisingly many exotic names in there. I must admit, when I read those female names, I think: that must be a sexy woman. And this website also conducted the research by asking visitors to rate a name on sexiness, without having a look to go with it.

The following names came out as the top 10 winners from the research, worldwide. I do advocate for more sexiness in Dutch names, as I read this. We are currently really heavily underrepresented.

Fun fact: the American dating site WhatsYourPrice.com once conducted a similar study, but only on American male names. It probably comes as no surprise that that top 10 looks very different from the above. The top 3 is represented by Mark, George, and Harry. Okay, nice names… But sexy? I don’t know, really. It’s funny that the names Liam and Noah are also explicitly mentioned as a caveat. Those are apparently names that are considered sexy among teenagers, but as soon as they become adults, that sexiness disappears like snow in the sun. So apparently, the other names are extremely suitable for all ages. I’m still not entirely sure if my dream name is among them, to be honest.
