Oh oh, Fajah, don't do it

Paradoxical or not: they say that if you are too attractive (whatever that may mean) you have a harder time finding love. Women around you are put off, men think you are out of their league (or already taken) and don’t dare to approach you properly.

The same goes, I think, for celebrities. I can imagine that with a famous face in the Netherlands, you might not always find love easily. On Tinder, people think you ‘aren't real’ and when they do find out that you ‘are real’, they prefer to hang out with you for the fame rather than for who you are as a person.

So it could very well be that you Fajah Lourens are 37 years old, have the tightest butt in the country, and a hugely successful business, yet you are still single. And it could also very well be that a TV producer approaches you with the question of whether you would like to find love in a dating show. And if love can be found there, and you even make some nice pocket money from it, why not?

Today in the news: Fajah Lourens hopes to find her dream man through television. In De Telegraaf, the ‘Killerbody’ author shares that she is having final discussions with a TV producer about a dating show. “It is important to me that my friends are involved in this search. Maybe I make it too difficult for myself sometimes because I want or expect too much,” she says. “The people around me know exactly how I am and may look at a guy differently than I do. Who knows what will come out for me.”

Dear Fajah. Don’t do it. I’ll give you a good reason. Or no wait, three. 1: Gordon. 2: The Bachelor. 3: Tila Tequila. Dating shows (exceptions like Farmer seeks Wife excluded and even there some cheating happens) do not work to find the love of your life. They do work to entertain the viewers. If that’s the last thing you want: go for it. If not, then I would say: run, while you still can.
