People kiss the dog more than their partners

Sometimes Monti gets to come home with me when May is traveling or on vacation. I've been looking forward to it for weeks, rearranging the dog treats in the drawer and buying mini cucumbers, because she likes those (no joke). I'm a dog aunt gone wrong. Upon entering, she gets hugs and kisses, in between as well, and if I have to leave the room for one second, I act like we'll never see each other again. And what turns out? People kiss their dog in their lifetime more than a partner.
Riley’s Organic (an organic dog treat company, yes, they exist) conducted a study on kissing dog owners in the USA. 52 (!) percent shower the dog in question with more kisses than their partner. I dare say this isn't just the case in America, but that we Dutch are not behind when it comes to kissing our dogs. I even think that on a bad boarding day, Monti comes off better than my boyfriend. Hey, I'm just being honest and Monti is simply the embodiment of cuddliness. Just like Saar, our other boarding dog. What I found remarkable was that again 52 percent preferred to lie in bed with the dog rather than with their partner. Call me normal, but I find that curious. How did it all come to this? A stunning 94 percent sees the dog as one of their best friends, hence. Although it would be strange if you preferred to kiss or take your best friend to bed rather than your partner. Or is it just me?
