This is how you do hair removal

may talking philips lumea event

Does it really work? Does it hurt? Is it dangerous? Can you use it in the summer? Here’s the average bingo card I can check off when I say I’m an ambassador for Philips Lumea. The IPL device that allows you to get rid of unwanted hair at home (yes, at home, speaking of advantages) generates quite a bit of curiosity. And questions.

That’s why we invited fourteen of you to try the Philips Lumea at home and tell us what you thought after two months. Saturday was the day when everyone with smooth armpits, shiny legs, and, as I’ve been told (I didn’t necessarily have to see it), the perfect bikini line came by at a great location on the Herengracht.

As a somewhat seasoned Lumea user, I even got a great tip. You should treat every two weeks in the beginning phase, which might be a bit of a tricky cycle to remember (although there’s a great Philips Lumea app, but I’m too rushed to keep up with that), and that’s why a reader came up with something quite brilliant. She had a fixed IPL moment each week. One week she did her armpits and bikini line, the other week her legs. This way she was nicely in rhythm but didn’t treat too often.

By the way, I still get questions about treating too often. It’s not a problem to flash more than once every two weeks, but it doesn’t go any faster. So why would you? Also (another question), it’s not a problem to flash twice in one spot. That sometimes happens because you don’t always know if you’ve treated a spot or not.

Our readers were all very enthusiastic and still surprised because they hadn’t dared to believe beforehand that their hair would really go away, but it worked. A selection of the reactions. ‘I was in Bali for four weeks and was completely carefree about my legs, armpits, and bikini line, really a liberation,’ ‘So nice during sports, I don’t have to worry at all when I have to push weights up,’ ‘I never minded shaving my legs, but now that I use the Lumea and really have no hair growth for six weeks, I realize how much better this is,’ ‘When I go away for a weekend, I can’t take a razor in my hand luggage. After day two, I really have stubble. Now I stay smooth, so nice.’

Now just a bit about why I find the Lumea so great.

  1. It’s easy.
  2. It’s fast.
  3. It doesn’t hurt.
  4. It’s not dangerous (the device only flashes when the entire surface is on your skin, so light can never get into someone’s eyes).
  5. The Lumea has separate attachments so that the device knows which body part you are going to flash. Each smart attachment has a unique combination of shape, size of the treatment window, and filter for different body parts to ensure you get the best results.
  6. You first treat three to four times every two weeks and then maintain it. In my case, that’s once every six weeks.
  7. There is a Lumea Try & Buy option where you pay monthly.
  8. I’m proud that it’s a Dutch product. There. Philips. Endlooooveeen.
