Research proves: This drink makes you more attractive

cheers in the club

It can be quite difficult to steal the show in a crowded bar and make sure that one attractive person is looking your way.

Fortunately, there’s your big friend Alcohol, with a capital A. It provides you with the necessary dose of extra confidence. But one drink is not the same as another when it comes to a good boost, because you wouldn’t exactly feel attractive drinking beer or wine. On the other hand, if you drink a strong drink with some mix in it, you feel a lot sexier and ready to shine, as research shows. At least 40 percent of those drinking a vodka or gin and tonic feel much more attractive while enjoying this treat. a lot more attractive, certainly more attractive than their companions who are sipping on a simple beer.

How come, you might wonder? It’s a bit of a psychological game, of course, but you just feel a bit more special with a slightly more expensive and more sociable-looking drink. More fun than the rest. Better than the women who are also flirting in black dresses and tough boots. We’re all the same. But you’re not now, because you have a cocktail with ginger ale and mint and all sorts of things in it. As in: everyone drinks beer. But wow, that beautiful bubble full of Hendrick’s and Fever-Tree, that makes you special.

Wine doesn’t do the trick either, unfortunately. It can help you loosen up in a conversation, that’s for sure, but that bubble of Sauvignon doesn’t help if you want to feel attractive. Because wine is also a bit average. You want to feel super sexy. So go for that Bloody Mary, that Cosmopolitan, that Margarita. Especially if you’re still in the mood for a flirt until the early hours. If you’re just hanging out with friends for an evening in the bar, fine, then you can have a wine.

Still, we’re not really paying attention to it, because in recent years wine has only become more popular. In the ultimate hip place to be, also known as New York City, wine is ordered in 50 percent of cases in a bar, for example. Beer and mixed drinks have to share the remaining 50 percent. We drink an average of seven glasses while going out in the Netherlands, so, well, with today’s prices, those strong drinks do add up. So choose your moment wisely. Do you see that attractive person in your peripheral vision, then you know what to order from your bartender.

Added bonus: you also smell a lot less sour because of that mixed drink. Quite cozy for your conversation partner. And once you’re sweetly intertwined on the couch, you’ve more than earned that wine.
