what you need to know about season 2 of YOU

You Netflix series

Before you read on, be warned: there are spoilers ahead. Now, they probably won't stop you (understandably), but at least I've said it. There's a good chance that you, just like the rest of Netflix-watching Netherlands, are already looking forward to the second season of YOU. To get straight to the point: no, we still don't know what the official release date is. That sucks, I know, but we do have a lot of other fun news for you regarding season 2. And believe me: after this, you really won't be able to wait until murderous-but-sexy Joe is back.

The best news is that they have started filming. Yes. That means that the release date can't be too far in the future anymore. And while they were filming the previous season in The Big Apple, they have now moved to the west coast. The second season takes place in Los Angeles a.k.a. the City of Angels. And Joe, of course.

As you may already know, there is a new Beck, and for many, that's a familiar face. Her name is Victoria Pedretti, but if that name doesn't ring a bell, maybe Nell Crain will. That's the character she played in The Haunting Of Hill House. Exactly: another Netflix series (with our pride Michiel Huisman). Her name in the second season of YOU will be Love Quinn. Seriously, the name Love? There's a good chance she won't get that at all this season, but okay.

Love Quinn is not a student like Beck was, but a chef in training at a high-end supermarket. I don't know about you, but I now picture a woman with a chef's hat in the meat department of Marqt. We'll have to wait and see how that goes. Furthermore, she is like Beck a ‘free spirit’, but the big difference is that Love (I really have nothing to do with that name, doesn't Beck 2.0 just sound better?) has nothing to do with social media. So no Instagram posts for Joe to stalk.

Love a.k.a. Beck 2.0 is close with her family; her brother Forty also has a significant role in the second season. And with names like Love and Forty, I sincerely hope we will meet those parents too, because there must be something wrong with them, right? There is also a cast member added who does have a normal name: Ellie. According to the American site TV Line, she is a ‘teenage girl growing up fast in the big city’. I wonder how a teenager will be involved in the plot. Maybe another kind of sidekick like Joe had in season one?

Okay, are we a bit excited yet? Filming has already started, but the only thing I'm still missing is clarity about Candace (and Beck? According to some fans, she is still alive). I really hope they suddenly show up and teach Joe a lesson. Together with the new cast; Love, Forty, Candace, and Beck. Honestly, it sounds just like a quartet from a Marvel superhero movie. And I can't wait.
