You won't believe it: the Netherlands is getting its own Fyre Festival

If you've seen the docu about the Fyre Festival, you might be thinking: my goodness, how can this be, we are too sober for this and who the hell is the Dutch Billy McFarland? I do. But if we are to believe the sources, we are about to get our own spin-off of Fyre, called Eilân on Terschelling.

A bit less sexy of a name, yes. I also haven't seen Netherlands' Anna Nooshins lying on a cold Terschelling beach for the promo, but that might still come. The foundation is there: the festival is almost sold out and there is still no permit from the municipality. I repeat: no permit. The organization is not worried. It all sounds very Fyre-rig.

You can sleep in your own luxury tent on the beach in September or come by boat or stay with your friends in a luxury villa. The man behind Eilân, Rob Simon from Chasing the Hihat, is positive.

‘It may sound strange, but it is very normal for festivals not to have a permit at this stage.’ The impression the municipality is currently giving to the Leeuwarder Courant is quite peculiar, the organizer thinks as well. Now, Chasing the Hihat is quite an authority in festivals, but hey, we all thought that too when we saw Ja Rule popping up.

At Vice, they still advise you to stock up on a good supply of Evian before you go to the island in September, because you never know what you might have to do for a few bottles of water there. Laughed very hard out loud.
