The fun facts about holiday love

man and woman in love walking through the grass

The best part of a vacation was definitely a petite fling here and there. I even once kissed on the bus from Utrecht to Cannes. That trip lasted 24 hours and whether you're sitting in the pub next to a friendly law student or on the bus. We Dutch are not averse to a holiday romance, as shown by such a delightful cucumber time study from Momondo. They present quite a few fun facts and immediately link some destinations where you could find that love. By the way, those destinations are not based on any research, but hey, Momondo just wants to sell tickets and I understand that. Here come the facts.

1. 1 in 3

1 in 3 Dutch people fall in love during vacation. 26 percent to be precise.

2. Colombians are the most in love

Of them, 37% have been in love during vacation. Colombia is being closely followed by its continental neighbors Mexico, Argentina, and Chile. So if you're heading to a Latino country: they are open to some horizontal fun.

3. Here you find love

Most people find their holiday romance in a hotel or hostel (cozy together in a bunk bed) and if you book a group trip, the research says you also have a chance of an increased heart rate and... Well, you know the signs.

4. They are not open to it

People from countries that are least interested in a foreign snack during vacation are Australians, Finns, and Canadians.

5. Leaving everything for love

Another study (by Lexa) shows that a quarter of respondents would leave everything (the triple H: Home, Hearth, and Dog) to chase after love. Provided it is the one. I hope so, yes.

6. These holiday romances lead to marriage

10% of holiday romances lead to marriage and 17% of holiday romances last for another year. But they must meet this holiday romance checklist to qualify.

Now I suddenly have such a romantic idea. If you met your love on vacation and then tell your story here on Amayzine. Does that sound good to you? Then just email me at may-britt@amayine.com.
