The first episode of The Hills is out and we are totally hooked again

At the moment I'm writing this, I'm in the lovely, sunny Greece. In the shade, though, because right now I'm a little sunburned. People, take it from me: sunscreen is a must. Yesterday I thought I had built a good ‘base’, which means today I'm literally sitting on blisters. Ouch, ouch, ouch. The added benefit is that I'm continuously in the shade, hardly able to sleep from the burn, but I do have plenty of time to stay up to date with my favorite guilty pleasures. One that was back on MTV for the first time yesterday. Oh yes, they’re back. The Hills. Feel the rain on your skin (which I could really use right now).
Yes, yes. The OG of The Hills is of course not there, our LC. Lauren is now living a house-kids-pets life so she kindly declined. Did I miss her? Definitely. Is Mischa Barton a worthy replacement? Absolutely. I bet many of us followed The OC and were also Team Ryan and Summer. Unfortunately, she pulled a Lindsay Lohan and completely went off the rails. And now she joins the group of Audrina, Stephanie Pratt, Justin Bobby, and Heidi and Spencer. Even Whitney Port is back.
What do we see first in the very first episode of The Hills: New Beginnings? An Audrina sadly unpacking her things in her new house after her divorce is finalized. Of course, there’s none other than Justin Bobby who comforts her and she admits to still having feelings for him. Something tells me the producers might have whispered this a little, but hey, I’m not complaining. She also hasn’t unpacked a single box yet and her number one priority is to invite her frenemies whom she hasn’t seen in at least ten years. All for the show, of course.
As I mentioned, Stephanie Pratt is also back, having picked up an interesting British accent. Where? No idea, since she was born and raised in LA. She says she lived in London for a while, and apparently, such an accent is just incredibly contagious there. She is also clever enough to introduce Mischa Barton: they have apparently been BFFs in secret for years. Hm-hm. Steph has returned to LA to mend the relationship between her and Spencer. Spoiler: that’s definitely going to go wrong. Meanwhile, Spencer admits that he ‘would love to be famous again’. So we know his motives now. A positive point in this episode is definitely Heidi, who seems to have become somewhat of a normal person again instead of a swollen Barbie doll.
My celebrity crush Brody Jenner is also back, with his wife Kaitlynn Jenner (not to be confused with his mother Caitlyn Jenner). He still seems to be a party boy and his wifey is not happy about that. Oh, drama all around. And I can tell you: I’ll be sitting in front of the TV again this coming Sunday. Totally ready for the manufactured drama. Because let’s face it: The Hills is the very best of the very-scripted ‘reality series’?
