The Sinner gets a third season and this is the new lead actor

Yes, the bullet has gone through the church: hit series The Sinner gets a third season. We are not completely surprised about this, as the first two seasons were quite popular on Netflix. In season 1, Jessica Biel starred in the lead role, which was a huge success right away and caused many sleepless nights. In season 2 the lead role was played by young actor Elisha Henig. That season was also well received, although I personally felt that it just didn't surpass season 1. So who knows, maybe season number 3 will turn out just fine.

The lead actor is already a well-known figure in film and TV. That is Matt Bomer, whom you may know from White Collar, American Horror Story, and – not entirely unimportant – Magic Mike. Based on the last title, you might already guess that it is not exactly an unpleasant picture, and I can absolutely confirm that. But when you watch season 1, you know: in The Sinner, that doesn't matter, because the most decent, attractive people can also be capable of murder.

And that is exactly what The Sinner makes it so exciting and innovative, I think. No thousands of theories about who the Great Murderer might be (who, with a bit of bad luck, also has a ridiculous name like The Gargoyle King for example). The murderer is known right away in the first episode of all seasons of The Sinner. So it is more about why these people did it, and that 'why' is what makes The Sinner thrilling. I found it a series that is hard to put down after every cliffhanger.

In season 3, it revolves around Jamie, a resident of Dorchester and an expectant father, who seeks the help of detective Harry Ambrose. Observant viewers will remember him from the first two seasons. Ambrose has to lead an investigation into a car accident that initially seems routine. But if that were the case, we would have a very boring and short season 3, so nothing is as it seems. Moreover, if we are to believe the press release, Ambrose gets caught up in the most dangerous and disturbing case of his career. Loving this so far. Jamie's exact role is still kept very mysterious. The only thing known is that he seeks Ambrose's help. But why? Is he guilty? I. Don't. Want. To. Wait. Any. Longer.

But unfortunately, there is nothing else to do. Netflix has not yet released an official release date, but some sleuthing tells me that it will probably be November 2019. Why? Season 1 and season 2 were both also released in (early) November. So don't hold me to that, but if it is true, I will say ‘told you so’.

Oh yes, one more fun detail: Jessica Biel is also returning. Unfortunately not behind the scenes, but this season she will be working as a producer. Of course, she was asked if she would also like to make a comeback on screen as Cora. According to her, that is not currently on the agenda, but, as she says: ‘Never say never.’ If I remember correctly, she received a 30-year prison sentence in the series, so I personally estimate that chance to be very minimal. But hey, if they just keep making more seasons of The Sinner, you won't hear me complain.
